The candidate declined the invite

A candidate can decline the interview like a regular event in their calendar, or they can use the 'Decline' link provided by Cronofy in their calendar invite. In both cases you will be notified and the request in the dashboard will show you the decline.

Steps to handle a candidate decline:

  1. You will receive a notification in your email when the candidate declines the calendar invite.
  2. You can go into the request (link will be in the notification) and cancel this for all participants with the 'Cancel' button at the bottom of the page.

Note: when a candidate declines the event in either way, the interviewer will still have the invite in their calendar.

The interviewer declined the interview.

  1. You will receive a notification that the interviewer declined the event.
  2. You can go into Cronofy and then to your Requests to find the specific interview.
    1. For new link with same request details (incl host) select 'Cancel & Reschedule' and send the new link to the candidate.
    2. New interviewer needed select 'Cancel' so the event will be removed for everyone and you can create a new request with updated details to the candidate.
    3. No new interview needed then you can select 'Cancel' so it will be removed from everyone's calendar.


If a host declines the invites will be deleted from everyone's calendar.

If a candidate or other attendee declines, the invites will remain in the others' calendars.

Can I make edits without canceling the current one?

At the moment this is not yet possible, but keep an eye out for our releases in your inbox!

One tip to help you in the meantime:

When you add yourself as 'other attendee' you can change the following in the calendar invites once the interview is scheduled:

  • Date and/or time.
  • Add other attendees.
  • Change location.
  • Add or update the calendar event text and title.
  • It is not possible to transfer the ownership of the event and change the host.
