Welcome to Cronofy’s third annual Candidate Expectations report! Each year we survey 6,500 candidates across the globe to understand their preferences and frustrations with the hiring journey. Our aim is to help recruiters improve their processes so they’re more efficient and provide a great candidate experience.

The previous results have been eye-opening to say the least, and this year is no different. Impatience continues to rise, and the pressure to be fast-moving is ever present. It’s been said time and again – Recruiters need to be quick to win talent in such a competitive industry. Technology and automation can help us save time and reduce admin in our daily lives. That said, it shouldn’t eradicate human connection. Recruitment is still about people and building relationships, so it’s crucial that communication with a human is sustained throughout the hiring journey. We’ve seen that technology like Cronofy can actually help recruiters attract and retain top talent as they have more time for sourcing and building stronger relationships.


It’s been fascinating to see the changing behaviors of candidates even over a relatively short space of time. It reflects the velocity of how the world is changing, with technology punctuating every part of our lives. It’s decreasing our attention spans, keeping us constantly entertained, and delivering results and answers faster than ever.


With a projected [20 to 50 million additional jobs](https://population.un.org/wpp/) created globally by 2030, even with the layoffs we’ve seen throughout the tech industry this year, it’s crucial to know what the candidate wants and expects from the hiring process to fill your roles. Otherwise, they can easily take their skills elsewhere, leaving businesses with a deficit.
